Due to their advanced size, Bonefish here tend to school and feed in smaller groups of 2-10 individuals. Occasionally larger schools of 20-30 fish can be found crushing bait or cruising beaches

Bonefish are the ULTIMATE Skinny Water Bottom-Feeders known for shoveling their noses through sand, mud, and grass in search of Shrimp, Crabs, and Worms. Or at least that’s what they’re supposed to do. But here on St. Croix something unique has occurred. Our Bonefish have adapted from a crustacean based diet to one that is much more akin to a Tarpon or Snook diet. Large schools of Anchovies, Sardines, and Herring are frequent visitors to the shallow coastlines of St. Croix setting up an ecosystem revolved around Baitfish. In short, what the Bonefish on St. Croix are doing is quite remarkable and we take full advantage of it!
